Many different people, of course. Men, women, old, young, clerics and lay people.
We tend to forget however that many of our hymns were written by people whose theology doesn’t quite match our own. Longview Bible Fellowship, while non-denominational, is a protestant church, but some of our hymns (“Our God Reigns” that we sang recently is a good example) were written by Roman Catholics.
The fact that Christians of all shapes and sizes sing the same hymns underlines the point that although there are obvious differences between churches, many other things unite us.
It is fitting therefore that we would encourage you to join with us in this time of worship, regardless of your denominational affiliation. The purpose of the Hymn Sing is not to beat our own drum, but rather to share in worship together around the hymns that we all value, and which express the values that we all share.
The hymns we used to sing! Do join us.
THANK YOU, HOME DEPOT
If you live in this area, you likely shop at the Okotoks Home Depot from time to time. You may know that The Home Depot has a strong track record of giving back to the communities they serve. The management at our local Home Depot just donated to us an almost new - and in great condition - fridge, that now takes pride of place in our kitchen downstairs.
